The Justice League

One afternoon I was being particularly unproductive so I decided to get on Quora and spend some time being a smartass. I succeeded for the most part, but I was genuinely surprised I was capable of coming with a half decent answer to this question:

What are some weird facts about the Justice League?

Here's what I aswered:

The JLA (Justice League America) comic book’s modern incarnation kick started with the original seven members -- Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Flash and Green Lantern.

The only members of the team who were not white or female were Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter. Neither of them seem to like pants.

No, seriously. Aquaman goes swimming all the time and he wears pants.

Comic books are largely targeted at young men. A lot of men, and boys like to see women in their underwear. That explains why Wonder Woman fights cosmic baddies in her underwear. It makes some (sort of) sense.

But the Martian Manhunter's choice of clothes is somewhat perplexing. Manhunter has the ability to change his appearance. What we see in comics is not his original form. Instead, it is one humans will find comforting and acceptable. Its weird that underpants and two red suspenders worn wrong would be comforting to humans.
